I have so many fond memories of The Beauty Show when it has come to The Big Apple and it will be back in full force this November 6th and 7th at its usual spot, The Metropolitan Pavilion. But they have a special one day mini event called The Makeup Show Safely Together coming this Sunday June 6th at 10 AM that promises to be smaller but equally amazing. (The location is The Metropolitan Pavillion although a smaller area of it is being used.) There will be educational seminars with the best makeup artists in the business and two hours of shopping that promises the best bottom line prices for lines that never go on sale (and you do not have to be a makeup artist to get these ridiculous prices)!
Signature Style with Danessa Myrick from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM ($65) is one of the most coveted seminars at the Together Safely event and that’s because Danessa has long been a staple of The Makeup Show with her vibrant personality, creation of cutting edge makeup looks and long lasting makeup line. She will be sharing her secrets for waterproofing, sweat proofing and crease proofing your makeup throughout the hot and muggy New York summer. No doubt there will be a few models floating around sporting the colorful Danessa makeup style and they will be pointed out during the discussion. When you want drama that works for everyday, Danessa is the lady to go to! She like the other speakers will be discussing proper safety protocols when applying and storing makeup.
The highlight of any Makeup Show is the seminars that feature celebrity makeup artist James Vincent. There is never a dull moment with this guy around! He tells stories about the many famous rock videos he has done makeup for while talking about the latest cosmetic trends and “rock star” products. His seminar called And Now This With James Vincent is from 2 PM to 3:30 PM and is priced at $45. He is a highly motivational speaker and will be discussing how to take your game as a makeup artist to the next level—but there will be plenty of info and enlightenment for we “mere mortals” who just want to learn the latest makeup trends! James also happens to be very funny and approachable.
Lihja Stewart and Yvonne MacInnis are makeup artists that are not afraid to be showstoppers and often experiment on each other. That being said, they can also look rather subtle at times. What I am trying to get at here is that these ladies have become highly acclaimed in the makeup world and they have clients from every walk of life. They will be imparting their wisdom about the beauty biz this Sunday from 12 Noon to 1:30 PM with a seminar called Makeup As Art ($45). They will be instructing about how to elevate your look—not only on yourself but others. The girls will also be discussing how to create your own artistic niche in the beauty world no matter what part of it you belong to.
Everyone loves to shop but for folks like us who need to have every color of the rainbow in their arsenal of makeup palettes, we need a good selection and discounts. From 5 PM to 7 PM this Sunday, The Makeup Show Safely Together Event will have their Networking And Pro Discount Event. You will not only get to mix and mingle with the educators doing the seminars and other people in the beauty biz, but these makeup artist favorite brands will offering discounts or 25 per cent and more. The participating brands are: Danessa Myricks Beauty, Rebels and Outlaws, B3, Glamcor, The Creative Makeup, Riot Beauty, MYKITCO, Alcone Company, Stilazzi, Melt Cosmetics, Viseart Paris, Make Up For Ever, Senna, BeautySoClean, Cinema Secrets, RCMA & AJ Crimson. There will be beauty gifts at the door but get there early before they run out!
To get tickets to all the seminars and events go to www.themakeupshow.com. BTW, there is a great one hour panel from 4 PM to 5 PM called Kit Focus Panel with several of the makeup artists mentioned above that is only $10 to attend!
