Super Saturday 2017: I Shopped (And Ate) ‘Til I Dropped

I love Super Saturday. I am not a Hamptonite per se but this highly-publicized event is always a favorite of mine since I love luxury shopping at a discount (and that is something that is hard to come by unless you enjoy perusing the racks at consignment shops). At Super Saturday, which benefits ovarian cancer research, the best of the best turn up with their sample and surplus wares and as the day goes on, the prices get lower.

Along the way, you get to rub shoulders with celebs and eat authentic Italian cuisine from Sant Ambroeus which has locations on both the Upper East Side and in Southampton. They bring out their best dishes for the Hamptons crowd including the mouth mouthwatering mozz and grape tomato salad and Veal Marsala. Their pastas are to die for as well. But it is their gelato that totally holds a special place in Super Saturday shoppers’ hearts; if you close your eyes, you will swear you are in Northern Italy at some small shop eating homemade gelato (Sant Ambroeus’ gelato is as good as it gets, especially the flavors featuring hazelnut).

So what were my favorite parts of Super Saturday this year besides the great food? I got some great clothing deals, which is what I was there for. While numerous brands were repped, including Talbot’s, Rachel Roy, DKNY, B. Kamin’s Skincare, Halo Phone Chargers, Calypso and Brooks Brothers, I found my dream bargains at the Sigerson Morrison and Karl Lagerfeld booths. I kid you not when I tell you that everything was $10 or less (including coats) at the Lagerfeld booth and $25 at the Sigerson Morrison booth in the last hour of Super Saturday. To top it off, I walked out with nine Karl Lagerfeld logo black T-shirts for myself and friends for only $30 at closing time.

I want to add that Super Saturday is actually a family outing and not just for shopping addicts. There are plenty of rides and crafts for kids, and there is sampling of casual but healthy food and drinks in the back of the main tent. This year I had the special pleasure of getting to know some of the adoptable pets from Gimme Shelter–a Long Island shelter and adoption center. The pooches I met were so adorable and friendly that I had to post pics of them on social media and I am hoping that being at Super Saturday helped get them into some loving homes.

Super Saturday is always the last Saturday of July and you should definitely put it on your bucket list. It is even worth flying in from out of town for! You can get your Christmas shopping done early and socialize at the same time!
