I had so much fun at the preview and ribbon cutting of the legendary Macy’s Flower Show. This event always has a super wow factor and always brings out a big crowd of locals and tourists alike—and you can catch it now through May 10 both on the first floor and in the store windows. There’s even a Flower Show gift shop where you can buy beautiful totes, pens, mugs, specialty Frango chocolates, an exclusive candle from Apotheke and more that are true Macy’s exclusives and bound to become collector’s items. The Frango chocolates are amazing as it is an artisanal brand acquired from the legendary Marshall Fields back in the day.

This year’s theme is “Homegrown” and it’s basically a tribute to American gardens that I assume was selected as part of celebrating the USA’s upcoming 250th birthday. Macy’s Flower Show’s floral displays come to life in partnership with landscape artists ManscapersNYC and The Bouqs Company, who provided the thousands of blooms into one experience. It takes a big staff to keep these fresh displays alive and kicking—flowers get replaced every few days so the Flower Show is a very high maintenance endeavor.

I was particularly impressed by the “glow up” of the Sunglass Hut area as I adore yellow and orange mixed blooms. This immediately put me in the mood for summer, especially with the giant daisy design on top which actually also resembles the sun in my mind! Sunglass Hut is one of the sponsor brands of the Flower Show.

The Flower Show includes a dramatic purple flower covered trellis at the entrance to the Valentino Beauty area on the mezzanine level. It was one of the top areas for photo ops at this morning’s event (which included a memorable ribbon cutting). Be sure to experience the Valentino fragrance journey via four magical rooms with dramatic vignettes; really cool machines are installed that dispense Valentino scent cards. Be sure to go back downstairs and check out the nearby display of great Valentino Fragrances gift sets that give great bang for the buck. I have an obsession with the green fragrance that in my opinion smells like limes mixed with freshly mown grass even though it is officially described as having a “woody espresso feel” (its full name is Valentino Born In Roma Green Stravaganza).

Macy’s Flower Show’s floral displays even extend to the escalators that go between the first and second floors! I hope that no one tries to pick these blooms as they ride up! Directly under the escalator is a flowered hallway that makes for a really fabulous Instagram moment!

The Macy’s Flower show is my #1 pick for free things to do in NYC in spring 2026! The best thing is that you can go any time that you wish and I guarantee that with every visit, you will find flower arrangements that you did not notice the last time! You can easily spend an hour looking at the flower displays in the front windows before meandering into the store! (They are very over the top!)
