The Regency Bar & Grill at Loews Regency: Offering New York’s Only Mom “Power Brunch” & Fun Mother’s Day Activations!

I have got to say that Loews Regency has really “got it going on” for Mother’s Day…not that there are not really great happenings everyday! There is great new grub and grub The Regency Bar & Grill all the time and everyone loves the chic lobby lounge. (This lounge is so comfortable that it has people in it nearly all day–you will find dozens of people working on their laptops or taking breaks from sightseeing.) The velvet sofas are comfy and there is no pressure to buy drinks or snacks like in other hotels who provide such areas.

Loews Regency has been going this fabulous floral cart for a couple of years now! It’s perfect for grabbing a stunning bouquet for mom done by Patrick J. Clayton Productions, the floral artists who provide arrangements for the hotel! These bunches of spring joy are super reasonably priced at $40 to $60 for a generous and hardy bouquet! There will also be a Reiss clothing pop up in the lobby from May 10th to 12th featuring this legendary brand’s top Mom picks. This brand was a great choice on the Regency’s part because Reiss’ designs are classic and contemporary at the same time, meaning that they will never go out of style.

The Regency Bar & Grill is known for its power breakfasts pretty much more than any other resto in town–that is why I call their Mother’s Day Brunch “the Mother’s Day Power Breakfast”! This seems to be the “special place” amongst Hollywood power brokers (at least from personal observance)–you can listen in on several movie deals being discussed (especially on Monday mornings for some reason) and even catch movie stars in town to promote their latest films.

What makes the The Regency Bar & Grill’s Mother’s Day breakfast so special? Chef Manjit Manohar has prepared a selection of seasonal specials including Maine Lobster Benedict and Celeriac Carpaccio in addition to the restaurant’s signature brunch offerings. I met the affable, talented and accommodating Chef Manohar when I went in for my own “power meal” last week; he gave me the lowdown on what he was planning for the much praised The Regency Bar & Grill annual Mother’s Day breakfast also known as the Mother’s Day brunch (which always sells out by the way, so move quickly on Resy or Open Table). Among the offering are Baked Eggs with Plum Tomatoes, Peppers & Sourdough Toast, Maine Lobster Benedict with Hollandaise and Home Fries, Celeriac Carpaccio with Basil Pesto and Shaved Parmesan, Corned Beef Hash with a Poached Egg and Grilled 12-Ounce Ribeye with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Wild Mushrooms and a Cabernet Reduction. Just for the record, prior to coming to the Loew’s Regency, Chef Manohar served as Executive Chef of the Millennium Hilton Hotel by the UN.

The regular lunch menu will also be available for Mother’s Day and I want to pick out a few winners for you that I personally tried. Pictured above is the Branzino which is probably the most beautiful piece of fish in town. What a presentation and what a taste! The roasted veggies are a gorgeous touch. Grab this while you can since it is not always on the menu. You can see that I ordered the Russet Potatoes as a side which is delicious and definitely big enough to share! I also strongly recommend the Brussels Sprouts which are roasted in EVOO and also served in a generous size.

The Rigatoni Alla Vodka is off the hook, as they say. The pasta is homemade and are truly an XL size (I think that the holes are more than one inch wide). Chef Manohar makes his red sauce like an Italian grandma and it tastes like it just came off the stove. This dish is served with chunks of Buffalo Mozzarella in olive oil scattered on top. Pictured here is only a half portion, so two people can share this and be satiated! This is quite a filling dish!

The Crisp And Dip (pictured at the very top center) is an app but is something to munch on for the entire duration of your meal. It is a gorgeous plate of homemade tzatziki, babaganoush, festive olives, hummus and pita crisps that are amazingly fresh!

The Classic Meatballs are a best kept secret. This is yet another appetizer that can serve as a meal and the impressive thing is that these meatballs are primarily ground veal. The homemade pomodoro sauce is a knockout and there is plenty of parm on top.

The 14-Ounce Dry Aged New York Strip Steak is something otherworldly and the meat of is such tremendous quality and flavor that you seemed to get full on less meat than usual. I guarantee that you will be taking half of it home. The thin cut fries that come with it are super golden and memorable as well.

The Strawberry Shortcake is elegantly served in almost a Pavlova like fashion. There are plenty of extra strawberries coated with a light natural syrup, whipped cream and traditional yellow sponge cake. Other must-have desserts are the Apple Tart and New York Cheesecake.

The cozy corner tables and banquettes make for a comfortable Mother’s Day gathering for the whole family. Despite the “power breakfast” reputation, The Regency Bar & Grill is super family friendly. The waitstaff is very patient and can take even the fussiest kids’ preferences into account and make them happy!

I almost forgot to add that the Loews Regency recently debuted their Free Spirited By Loews program. As one of the progressive hotel brands to embrace the growing trend of mindful consumption, Free Spirited By Loews provides elevated and personalized bar programming for those who choose to consume or restrict their alcohol intake. Many unforgettable mocktails and low alcohol cocktails are offered as part of the Free Spirited By Loews program and you can see some of them above (they are truly unique creations and perfect for Mother’s Day celebrations). Two drinks that are already runaway hits are Grapefruit Fusion (No ABV) and Shirley’s Cousin (Low ABV).
