The Regency Bar & Grill: The Upper East Side Mother’s Day Brunch That You Can’t Go Wrong With!

I am a longtime fan of The Regency Bar & Grill. Overall, the The Loews Regency Hotel is standout on the Upper East Side because it’s been around over 60 years and is the ultimate example of being classy but unpretentious. The Regency Bar & Grill specializes in Modern American Cuisine and the staff is attentive and happy to tailor dishes to your dietary needs and preferences. They have a special menu for Mother’s Day 2025 but you can also ask for the regular lunch menu. Items for Mother’s Day are a la carte and range from $16 to $58.

Okay, there you have it! I say that life is short so that you need to eat dessert first! If Mom is a cheesecake aficionado, this is the place to get it. The cheesecake is house made and creamy and it is one of the best kept secrets on the Upper East Side. The Strawberry Shortcake is another winner!

The item that we fell in love with from The Regency Bar & Grill’s Mother’s Day brunch menu is the Grain Salad. This is a dish that has the rare qualities of being healthy, tasty and filling at the same time. The yogurt based dressing tastes ultra fresh on the mixed perfectly cooked grains and the grapes give such a nice fruity kick. There are even spinach, kale and pistachios in here! This is the perfect dish for those who like to eat light (even on Mother’s Day) and I bet it will make it onto the regular brunch menu sooner rather than later. Just FYI, the Grain Salad is part of Freshly Rooted by Loews Hotela culinary program that brings sustainability to the forefront of the property’s food and beverage offerings. Loews Regency New York Hotel is serving unique, hand-crafted salads made from locally sourced ingredients, reinforcing the property’s commitment to responsible sourcing, supporting local farms, and providing guests with fresh, flavorful dishes rooted in regional agriculture. What’s exacting is that new types of salads will be added to the menu at different times during the year.

For moms who say live by the motto “you only live once,” there is The Regency Bar & Grill’s unique take on Chicken And Waffles. Chicken cutlets are breadcrumbed and fried to just perfectly and they sit underneath a huge fluffy Belgian waffle cut into four pieces. This is a dish perfect for sharing because it really says something when I can only eat one quarter of a portion. I am giving kudos to the Regency Bar & Grill for giving out bottles of small label maple syrup that is super high quality.

Another brunch classic that is on the The Regency Bar & Grill Mother’s Day brunch menu is the resto’s legendary Eggs Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce is so creamy and the ham is extra tender and juicy. The Benedict is actually going to be available in a lobster version for mom’s big day but you can also get a lumped crab version or the original (like my guest and I ate and loved). You can never go wrong with this satisfying brunch dish and the roasted potatoes topped with fresh chives are the icing on the cake, so to speak!

I almost forgot to tell you! While you are having your Mother’s Day brunch, considering having the Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup from the regular lunch menu as an appetizer! This is a half portion above (the chef will gladly split it up for you). This might look like regular Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup but it’s not—there are artisanal cheddar and Swiss cheeses used and the soup has a tang that is unforgettable. This is American comfort food at its finest, even though it looks modest.

So let me conclude by backtracking! Above is the amazingly creamy cheesecake with dots of fresh raspberry coulis, and milk and white chocolate and white chocolate “magic wand.” In the background you can see the warm apple tart with homemade vanilla ice cream although your server will offer you all available flavors to choose from. There are at least four or five other knockout desserts including Tiramisu, Strawberry Shortcake and Vlarona Chocolate Mousse. Whole families are welcome at The Regency Grill which helps make it an ideal Mother’s Day brunch spot. You actually might need an extra kid or two to finish off their big portions, LOL! Reservations are suggested and you can go here to make them: Regency Bar And Grill.
