The Housewares Summer Preview: Testing Out Cutting Edge Appliances, High Tech Cookware And More!

I had a terrific time at Live In NYC: Housewares Summer Preview which was given by the International Housewares Association at the Metropolitan Pavilion recently.

More than 35 companies and brands were on hand to show products to lifestyle press. There was a nice blend of well-known brands and first-time event exhibitors. All in all, there were 130 products on display.

Participating exhibitors and brands included: Angie’s Tables; Aveine; Bous (King Jim, Takenaka); Chantal Corp; The Cookware Co. (Red Volcano, Bobby Flay x GreenPan, GreenLife, Blue Diamond); Core Home (Manna, Maison De Base, Brooklyn Steel); Crane USA; Dexas International; E-Cloth; Ekco Brands (Vita); Fissler America; Fit & Fresh; Freshlink Product Development, LLC dba PREPARA; GlenLois; Hamilton Beach (CHI, Clorox, Wolf Gourmet); Henry Wang Travel Mug; Jura; Klean Kanteen; Lifetime Brands (Built & Rabbit); Lumber Mart Sales Sdn Bhd (Backley); Madesmart; Mastrad; NewAir; Pakt; PantryChic, a division of Nik of Time; Plum; Porland Porselen; Proctor Silex; Tuckahoe Hardwoods; Via Deco Home; Wow Gear; Zavor; Zip Top; and Zojirushi America.

Below find some of my favorite products from this fun-filled event that really showed off some new and innovative products that are bound to become blockbuster holiday gifts.

I loved the new taxi cab yellow electric teapots and bakeware by Chantal. The teapots make a harmonica sound thanks to having real Hohner Harmonica reeds inside! You can buy this high quality ceramic line at Williams-Sonoma. For more info, go to www.Chantal.com.
These handmade chef quality cutting boards by Tuckahoe Hardwoods are not just functional but are well worth passing from generation to generation. They also make great bowls and serving dishes. Many types of wood are used including pine and teak and getting to see all the original markings on the wood in the final product is amazing! For more info, go to www.tuckahoehardwoods.com.
All place settings in a box by Angie’s Table just need dishes, cutlery and stemware added for a completely gorgeous and quick table scape! Guests will swoon over these plus they are an instant conversation starter. Each Angie’s Table set has items for four place settings including color coordinated runners, tablecloths and napkin rings. I fell in love with this 4th of July set in a New York minute! For more info, go to www.angiestables.com.

I had no idea that Clorox made anything but bleach so imagine how shocked I was to learn that they made air purifiers in conjunction with Hamilton Beach Brands that are perfectly sized for a 350 foot space. I was impressed about how quiet they were and how you do not have to add water. They are just “plug and play.” Best of all, they get rid of 99.97% of allergens and particulates (they get captured in a two-part filtration system). For more info, go to www.hamiltonbeach.com.
I was amazed at the knockout mix and match dish ware by Porland Porselen. This line synthesizes modern and folksy style and I love the way all the colors and designs work together (which is demonstrated in my photo above). These dishes have high mechanical strength which is great because then you do not have to worry about breakage. For more info, go to www.porland.com/corporate.
I feel that pressure cookers are the best way to cook fresh veggies and I am always amazed at how colorful vegetables turn out when cooked via this tried-and-true method are! Fissler’s Vitavit Premium pressure cooker has three adjustable settings and is easy to control. It has a patented novogrill surface on the bottom with a honeycomb texture that is great for searing and frying. I was actually impressed with all the cookware by Fissler America! This luxury line is made in Germany and attention is paid to detail, right down to pot handles made for comfort! For more info, go to www.fisslerusa.com.
E-Cloth Window Cloths have become my new obsession. I just got a wall of new windows and plan on keeping them spotless! E-Cloth window cloths only require water making them super easy to use. (Someone who works for Windex is sweating bullets right now!) E-Cloths are not only made of premium microfibers that break up grease and dirt but they are good for the environment. You can wash them 300 times and they come with an amazing three year promise. There other E-Cloth products including an amazing mop that had an extra large replaceable E-Cloth on the end (you can see the handle at the bottom of my photo above). For more information, go to www.e-cloth.com.
