Capital Grille: My Idea Of The Ultimate V-Day Dinner Hot Spot!

What is my top choice for a great, classically romantic Valentine’s (or Galentine’s) Day? It is Capital Grille—because I love nothing better than a super consistent steakhouse with white glove service and Capital Grille is just that. They not only have my very favorite grilled filet mignon (in a generous 10 ounce portion) always done to the exact temperature that I ask for but they have some of the nicest and most attentive staff in Manhattan. I was so impressed that the wait staff not only knows the menu forwards and backwards (including the ingredients) but they are super knowledgeable on wine, mixed drinks and virgin drinks.I just visited the Wall Street location (at 120 Broadway) last night and had my much adored medium rare filet mignon but not without having their Buratta for two which comes with homemade crostini and a host of different colors and sizes of tomatoes laying on top of drizzles of beautiful balsamic dressing. I love this dish so much that I think it would make a great lunch entree even though it is officially listed as an app.My meat was sided with both their fabulous mashed potatoes and soy glazed Brussels Sprouts with chunks of artisanal bacon. There is a touch of honey in the dressing, which is really a warm Hoisin sauce. Take anyone who doesn’t eat their vegetables here and they will fall in love with these divine Brussels! For dessert, my guest and I split both the coconut cream pie and the creme brûlée. The desserts at Capital Grille are beautiful and come with a twist. The clouds of homemade whipped cream on the coconut cream pie as well as the delicate long fresh baked wafer cookies that rest next to each piece make it the ultimate dreamy and romantic dessert.Speaking of romance, on February 13, The Capital Grille is offering guests a guaranteed memorable evening with complimentary Veuve Clicquot Brut or Rosé and hand-dipped chocolate covered strawberries. In an atmosphere of relaxed elegance, The Capital Grille excites guests not only with hand-cut, dry aged steaks, artisanal ingredients and their award-winning wine list of over 350 selections but will the aforementioned friendly and attentive service.Reservations are now open for Valentine’s Day Eve, as well as for Valentine’s Day for those looking for a cozy spot that will linger long in their memories. You might not associate a large steakhouse with being cozy but each Capital Grille location is divided up into several rooms with different vibes. I have eaten at the Wall Street, West 51st Street and East 42nd Street locations and all three look out at legendary buildings. I have a soft spot for the Wall Street location because I love the front room that gives you a stunning view of the Federal Building all lit up.If you are the procrastinating type, Capital Grill has a solution for you to get a last minute V-Day res. The Capital Grille’s Concierge app offers #ReservationRescue, whereby one lucky procrastinator will have the chance to reserve a table for two at 7 p.m. on February 14. To enter, simply download the app and select your favorite CG location for a chance to save the day. For more info and to make reservations, simply visit www.capitalgrille.com. Just FYI, they have very cozy and romantic leather booths so be sure to ask for one when you walk in. Be sure to start out your Valentine’s Day meal with their legendary pink Cosmopolitans or if you are a teetotaler, their virgin version of a red rum punch!
