I was lucky enough to attend a special press event for Sheva Royal Thai Spa located at the NW corner of 47th and Lexington (500 Lexington, to be exact) and could not believe my eyes or any of my senses for that matter. First of all, the whole spa concept is different than anything I have ever encountered before. You can buy subscriptions and get unlimited monthly services including the spas signature foot rubs, regular manis, gel manis and pedicures.
The spa itself has some classic Thai decor including a large gold buddha by the front door, and lots of orchid plants, both real and made out of silk. Yankee great David Cone–who is a regular at the spa–was sitting by me getting the same great foot and leg massage as I was during the press event (and yes, he had a baseball in tow and that kind of made me crack up)! There were other luminaries there including Thai beauty pageant winners and Jonathan Cheban, the Kardashians’ publicist and Guy Friday.
But don’t go to Sheva Royal Thai Spa to sit next to celebs, go there to relax like you have never relaxed before. The gorgeous pillows and classic Thai spa ensembles that both the staff and customers wear were designed by Naomi Hurvitz, the owner–and they are simply colorful and stunning. The pants legs can be easily rolled up for when staff works their heavenly wonders on your tired calves!
The Sheva Royal Thai Spa is actually based on the original spa Naomi Hurvitz opened in the Tel Aviv Hilton. The services are extremely reasonably priced but the unlimited monthly memberships are an incredible steal and possibly New York’s greatest spa bargain!
