The View Restaurant & Lounge at the Marriott Marquis in the heart of Times Square has a truly one-of-a-kind dining experience every Thursday, Friday and Saturday for an limited time only. It is a captivating and immersive dining experience as an animated French Chef prepares a four-course meal right at your table!
With Le Petit Chef as your guide, guests are taken on a culinary odyssey combining whimsical animation and specialty dishes to create an amazing gourmet meal that will capture your imagination. Le Petit Chef is actually an animated, funny French chef and you can watch his antics as he cooks your dinner from start to finish…these antics are projected on both guests’ plates and on the table. Shapes and patterns on the table remain as you eat, such as the ocean pattern featuring the lobster you will be eating as your second course.
I recently experienced this marvelous dinner for myself and if the view from the 48th floor of the Marriott Marquis is not enough, the animated hi jinx of Le Petit Chef created by Table Marion Studios will have you both laughing and “oohing and ahing.” You see the chef grabbing micro greens from a greenhouse, fishing for a lobster, visiting a farm and more. The images are projected from an electronic device on the ceiling at each table.
The four-course dinner with wine accompanying each course features:
Burrata With Whipped Ricotta, Heirloom Tomatoes, Frico, Balsamic, Basil Oil and Smoked Salt (Wine: Whispering Angel Rose, Cotes De Provence, 2021)
Chilled Maine Lobster With Shaved Fennel, Citrus Supremes, Blood Orange Vinaigrette, Tarragon Aioli and Sorrel (Wine: Matua Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, 2021)
Beef Short Ribs With Patatas Bravas, Grilled Asparagus, Chimichurri and Smoked Paprika Aioli (Wine: The Stag, Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles, 2019)
Matcha Coconut Espresso Fusion created with Chocolate Breton, Matcha Gelato, Crunchy Coconut Dacquoise, Raspberry, Matcha Marshmallow and Warm Espresso Ganache
A Little Something Extra: French Fruit Pate (aka Gels) in Natural Blackberry, Pear and Peach Flavors
The price is $199.99 per person along with a 15 per cent service charge and 10 per cent administrative fee. This might sound a little pricey but it is worth every penny as the visuals are stunning, the food is top of the line and you get an exquisite wine with each course. The whole Le Petit Chef experience is about three hours and substitutions due to dietary needs are taken into consideration for each guest.
