Once a year, the Makeup Show NYC brings you some of the most influential artists and brands in the beauty industry in a big blowout where you can catch up on the latest trends and products (plus mix and mingle with the A List of the industry). Two of the superstar makeup artists who appear at the workshop but also mix and mingle on the main exhibition floor are the legendary Danessa Myricks (who recently created the most high coverage foundation in the world) and James Vincent (whose lectures are not only divinely informative but super funny as well). It’s coming up this weekend and you can still buy tickets!
Late Saturday afternoon and evening there is a back to back beauty brunch featuring an informative panel of makeup artists and brand owners followed by a cocktail party that is not only fun but a fabulous networking opportunity. You can only buy tickets to these experiencesif you already already paid your $55 dollars for general admission. Keep in mind that $55 is the price for one day of the show if you purchase your ticket ahead of time; at the door a one day ticket is $68. The best deal of all is purchasing a two day ticket ahead of time (for Sunday and Monday) on the Makeup Show website for the remarkable price of $68.
Upon entering the doors at the Metropolitan Pavillion, you will soon see why this is money well spent as the Makeup Show is the only place you can get steep savings on brand new products as well as tons of samples. An inside secret is that many beauty brands sell what they have at their booths for only half price on the afternoon of the Makeup Show’s last day (Sunday). This year’s beauty brand exhibitors include Bdellium Tools, Alcone, Make Up Forever, Mehron, Melt, MOB, Lord And Berry, Georgette Klinger, Suva, Stunner Bee, Graft A Lash, Face Cult, Ruby May, Lumify, Baseblue, Ada and more.
I get the biggest thrill not only getting my hands on the latest beauty products but by exchanging beauty ideas with the world class makeup artists (some of which are pictured above). In a nutshell, there are loads of educational and shopping opportunities in an intimate setting (the event is at the legendary and spacious Metropolitan Pavillion at 125 West 18th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues). You will find an endless array of celebrity makeup artists and industry experts on the Seminar and Demo stages and they will show you the latest trends, techniques and share their business expertise to help guide you to a successful beauty career. A superstar attraction is the International Stage filled featuring demos and talks with makeup professionals from all over the world. (I will be there and cannot wait!)
