The Latest On Lasers: A Cutera Press Event With Dr. Neil Sadick

Last Friday’s Cutera-sponsored press breakfast for three dozen beauty and health journalists at Park Avenue dermatologist Dr. Neil Sadick’s office was an interesting one. Dr. Sadick did a Q&A on the latest Cutera laser treatments Pico Genesis and TruSculpt ID moderated by his journalist daughter Sydney Sadick.Cutera’s Pico Genesis is considered the current state of the art laser system for facial skin although it can be used on décolletage and neck areas as well. It is so popular not only because it can be done in fifteen minutes with minimal pain and no down time–but because it literally works on every skincare problem you can name from fine lines to melasma to rosacea to acne and back again. Dr. Sadick says that a large portion of his patients are people who have had no luck getting rid of acne scars in the past and he says that he himself is amazed at the effectiveness in this arena. Naturally, a another large segment of his Pico Genesis patients are over 40’s who want skin tightening and fine line reduction. Still others are interested in the non-painful tattoo removal that Pico Genesis offers. The real beauty of Pico Genesis is that several skin problems can be treated at one time and results show in one to three sessions. Pico Genesis uses non-thermal pulses of laser light to remodel the upper layers of skin. Pricing is about $300 per session and results are permanent so it’s truly great “bang for the buck” as they say on the streets–especially if you think about the hundreds of dollars spent on skin creams and cleansers that are supposed to treat skin problems but only deliver slight results. (Note: Pico Genesis photo above is by Clinica Lase Skin and Laser Center.)Cutera’s TruSculpt ID is the latest in laser body contouring. At the press breakfast in Dr. Sadick’s office, we saw several amazing before and after photos where very noticeable results were shown in the abdomen and flank areas, two of the areas women complain about most since the fat there is so stubborn. The beauty is that TruSculpt ID works on areas that have proved resistant to diet and exercise. Like Pico Genesis, there is often incredible results in one 15 minute session. TruSculpt ID is about $500-600 per session although it varies from doctor to doctor. Interestingly enough, maximum results come in 12 weeks after the session has taken place and research done on abdomen sessions has shown an average of 24 per cent fat reduction in only one session. TruSculpt ID can also be used to treat upper arms, back and inner, outer and back of thighs.Dr. Neil Sadick is located at 991 Park Avenue and his official site is www.sadickdermatology.com. He has an excellent book out called The New Natural: Your Ultimate Guide To Scalpel-Free Age Reversal (published by Rodale Press). For more information on PicoGenesis, go to www.picogenesis.com/home.
