SUPER SATURDAY–As Much Fun For Family As For “Super Shopper” Moms & Dads

I love OCFRA’s Super Saturday which is one of the most popular and longest running annual events for Ovarian Cancer Research–but did you know it has as many activities for kids as for adults (if not more). There is face painting, Camp Divalycious which features any kind of craft a kid could want to make and even an amusement area complete with an old-fashioned merry-go-round and ferris wheel. There was even kids’ shopping to thanks to Bonpoint and some great boutique brands; even Rachel Zoe’s multiple designer booth had sleek duds for kids! The younger female guests at Super Saturday were encouraged to create their own floral headband on the way in!

I admit that I go to shop but I do get on the ferris wheel and merry go round and I do eat all the great classic American BBQ items put out for kids at this stellar Water Mill event. I hit the fresh corn on the cob stand, pasta and the burgers and hot dogs supplied by the glorious San Ambreous of both the Hamptons and the Upper East Side. I live close to the Upper East Side location and admit I have gone in there many time for the lovely gelato, tiramisu and apple tarts served there and at Super Saturday!

As far as celebs go, I noticed Donna Karan’s daughter Gabby, Kelly Ripa and Molly Simms when I was in the VIP tent. They were clearly enjoying themselves with friends and family members. (I had just seen Kelly Ripa recently as her 13-year-old son made his confirmation at St. Vincent Ferrar church in April with my niece.)

The clothing and accessory bargains were endless and there were even a few cosmetic booths including Kiehl’s, B. Kamins and IT Cosmetics. It was great to see my friends from Carolee Jewelry and that you could pick up their lovely and diverse necklaces sold in Bloomie’s and Lord & Taylor’s for as little as $30. The prices go down as the day goes on and at the end I managed to snag some great Henri Bendel’s jewelry and ipad mini cases for $5 each, some nice Ralph Lauren Polo men’s utility bags for $10 each and even a couple of cashmere Magashoni sweaters for $10 each. The guests left with gift bags that included the latest Donna Karan Cashmere EDP.

This is one of my favorite Hamptons events of all time and always takes place the last week of July. I would say this worth driving in from Manhattan for (there is a huge parking area, BTW) and even flying in for if you love super discounts on designer brands, great food and celebrity company
